Expanding Our Footprint: FMI Japan Officially Opens in Taichung
We are thrilled to announce that FMI Japan’s new office in Taichung is officially open! When we first planned our expansion into the Taiwan market two years ago, Taichung was the very first stop for our exhibitions. You might wonder why it has taken us until now to establish a physical office here. My philosophy has always been one of caution and deliberate growth; opening an office requires significant investment and the right talent, so I chose to observe the market carefully before making the move.
Through our collective efforts, FMI has firmly established its foothold in Taiwan. After analyzing our data last year, we discovered a 40% increase in inquiries and clients from Taichung within a single year, with their average investment budget 15% higher than that of our Taipei clients. We were frequently asked, "Does FMI have an office in Taichung?" I gave this serious thought—having a local presence not only boosts client confidence but also streamlines the contract signing process. Previously, our team was based entirely in Taipei, meaning that whenever a Taichung-based client needed to sign a contract, our staff had to travel, or the client had to make the trip to Taipei. Neither option aligned with the high standard of service we strive to provide.
With the number of Taichung clients continuing to rise, the demand for better service became clear. We began scouting for office locations at the start of this year. To be honest, I have been occupied with other projects throughout the year, so the heavy lifting for the launch was handled by my partner, Nicky, and our dedicated team in Taiwan. When I finally visited the new office for the opening, I was struck by its excellent location. It is situated right next to a bank, surrounded by major international companies and Grade-A office buildings, and, quite notably, right next to a police station. We joked that since many people in Taiwan fear that overseas property agents might be scammers, the fact that FMI has the audacity to open our doors right next to a police station is the ultimate testament to our legitimacy. Our Taichung branch is located on Shizheng Road in the Xitun District—a comfortable, clean, and professional business hub. Unlike many areas in Taiwan where overhead power lines often crisscross the streets, this district is remarkably orderly with towering skyscrapers, giving it an atmosphere reminiscent of Chiyoda in Tokyo, the area surrounding the Imperial Palace—a sense of tranquil prestige.
Many of my Taiwanese friends prefer living in Taichung because of its favorable weather and relative immunity to typhoons. I know a couple from the Taipei Huaxin Rotary Club who live in Taipei during the week and retreat to Taichung for the weekends to enjoy a more relaxed pace of life. For us, the Taichung office is a major convenience not only for local residents but also for our clients in Tainan and Kaohsiung, who no longer need to travel all the way to Taipei. In effect, this location allows us to serve the central and southern regions of Taiwan with ease. Having frequently held exhibitions in the Xitun District in the past, we have now integrated a large-scale showroom directly into our office, providing a dedicated space for future exhibitions and investment seminars.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the partners, clients, and friends who took the time to join our opening party. A special thank you to our friends from the Taipei Huaxin Rotary Club for your support, and to the Lidao Rotary Club for the beautiful flower boards; we received all your well wishes and expectations! During the ceremony, I witnessed a truly heartening scene: our Taipei colleagues diligently mentoring the new Taichung team, just like senior students guiding their juniors. I remember when our Taipei staff first joined two years ago, they faced many challenges. Seeing them now, sharing their accumulated experience, company history, and market insights with their new colleagues in Taichung, serves as proof that both our company and our people are constantly growing. We look forward to working together to reach even greater heights in the future.
FMI Japan has officially arrived in Taichung, opening our doors in the heart of the 7th Redevelopment Zone on Shizheng Road.
